12 on 12: September 2015

I had forgotten to do my 12 on 12 on the 12th this month so when I went out on Saturday I was only all too willing to get a bit snap happy. The day started out back in my old neighborhood at the annual library book sale. I stocked up and then we headed to my favorite places to shop: the farmers market, Trader Joes, and Wegmans. After that, we stopped off at the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park since Saturday was also the Smithsonian's annual Museum Day Live . The park was beautiful, we had a nice walk and even ran into a wedding party. We took the long way home and had a great time meandering through the country looking at old barns, cows, and windmills.

I had a bit of a late start to the day but it ended up being quite productive nonetheless. I started out making a 3-minute English muffin to go with my omelette and then moved on to a couple of DIY projects: covered metal hangers, a plushie dog (made while listening to the audiobook for The Bollywood Affair ), and some homemade fly paper. Dinner was a salad with sunflower sprouts grown by a local boys home and the best watermelon I've had all summer.

Another pretty typical Vancouver day. Lots of kitty cuddles, great company, amazing cake (ok, this isn't so typical, but a girl can dream), a lazy lunch, some reading (Spanish optional), and some gaming, or rather game watching. A+ to Papers, Please .

One of the goals I picked for my 101 in 1,001 challenge was to document a day in my life every month. I love being able to look back at my monthly snapshot posts and see how things have changed, but I wanted something that reflected the little details of my life, since those are the things that fade from memory the fastest. While I originally toyed around with the idea of doing some sort of video or photo collage, I eventually decided to fall back into an old favorite, 12 on 12. This project wasn't my idea; it's something I picked up years ago from a friend on livejournal. I remember seeing her post for the first time and loving how simple, yet brilliant the idea was, take 12 (or pick 12) photos to represent a particular day, in her case the twelfth of each month. In my case, I need a bit more flexibility, so I've opted to go with the weekend closest to the twelfth unless I have a trip of some sort planned for the month in which case I might cheat a bit and use that day/s i...
