Wardrobe Architect :: Week 14 aka Reworking the Plan

Recently it's become apparent to me that while I had thought I was done with my wardrobe sculpting enough to move on to the shopping phase, this is in fact not true.  So, I've been tweaking it a bit more.  I've changed the silhouettes (no more tucked in tops, no more awkwardly styled shirts), and reworked my list of "uniforms".  Basically I've taken what I like and turned it into something more practical.  I need to be able to layer.  I don't want tons of colors.  I like neutrals; patterns can get tiresome.  I don't want to be overly influenced by what I have in my closet.

What I've come up with is the following:

Dress
Dress + Sweater or Cardigan
Bottom + Sweater
Bottom + Top
Bottom + Top + Sweater/Cardigan

Dresses include sweater dresses and tunics to some extent.  Bottoms include shorts, skirts, pants, and leggings.  Tops include button downs, blouses, tees, and tanks, as well as some tunics.  Cardigans and sweaters are pretty self explanatory.

I've focused more on neutrals mostly black and white, with some grey and navy, and to a lesser extent cream, baby pink, and browns.  Mustard and Ruby are my accent colors.  Patterns are pretty basic with lots of negative space.  Bottoms are almost exclusively solid colored.  My updated "Core Wardrobe" board reflects this, while my "Fashion Inspiration" board reflects more of the original intent of the project.

Mostly what's changed is my summer wardrobe, although I've removed all of the blue from my nonwork winter wardrobe as well.  I've also added practical shoes, for all the walking I do, as well as weather appropriate clothing.  To see the original plan I had mapped out click here.  The new plan is laid out below based on item category instead of season.

Earth Day aka "Green Love" 2008

Leafy Tree Pendant from OneElf Earth Day’s fast approaching and I’m super excited. My ‘hug a tree’ shirt’s ready and waiting and I’m impatiently counting down the hours. Yes I’m a giant geek, but it’s the one day where spreading the green love is totally socially acceptable. Although I will still try and refrain from yelling at people who chuck plastic bottles in the trash; I will not refrain from rolling my eyes at people who look at me funny when I remove perfectly good rolls of wrapping paper from the trash. It’s going to be fun. However since it is Earth Day I know everyone’s being berated with things like ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ and ‘turn the water off when you brush your teeth’. Important, yes, but I think there’s a bit of a bigger picture that gets missed in all that, so I’m going for something different. I’m not going to talk about it, at least not today. Today I’m talking about worms. Yes, I’m finally writing a real entry about something, and yes it’s about worms. ...

Teaser Tuesday - July 29th

Lack of perspective in literature (or in readers) often causes a contemporary condition I've heard referred to as "presentism"; that is, a disposition to judge all literature by the narrow standards of present time and present culture.  This leads to the phenomena such as the denunciation of classic novels such as Huckleberry Finn , on grounds that they deal with issues such as slavery, women's civil rights, ect., in a way not consistent with the notion of present-day political correctness. - "Presentism" The Outlandish Companion by Diana Gabaldon Teaser Tuesday is  hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading . 12 on 12: September 2015

I had forgotten to do my 12 on 12 on the 12th this month so when I went out on Saturday I was only all too willing to get a bit snap happy. The day started out back in my old neighborhood at the annual library book sale. I stocked up and then we headed to my favorite places to shop: the farmers market, Trader Joes, and Wegmans. After that, we stopped off at the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park since Saturday was also the Smithsonian's annual Museum Day Live . The park was beautiful, we had a nice walk and even ran into a wedding party. We took the long way home and had a great time meandering through the country looking at old barns, cows, and windmills.
